The Library has paid for subscriptions to a large number of E-Resources (including EBSCO databases, Scholars Portal, and many more). When you connect to E-Resources within the Library, from on campus, or from residence, you are automatically recognized as a Nipissing University student, faculty or staff member. When you're off campus, you will need to follow a few steps to access these subscription resources.
Where do I start?
You must access these databases through the Library's E-Resources page. When you click on the E-Resource of your choice, you will see the Off Campus login screen. If, for example, you're off campus and you arrive at a subscription resource from a Google search, you will not be recognized as a Nipissing University student, faculty or staff member.
Am I eligible to use the Off Campus login service?
Yes, if you are a currently a Nipissing student, faculty, or staff member, and you have a WebAdvisor account. Nipissing University Alumni are not eligible to use E-Resources from off campus, but can use E-Resources within the Education Centre Library.
What is my username and password?
For Nipissing students,
- your WebAdvisor ID is your last name initial, lowercase, plus your 7-digit student number (e.g., Mary Jane Doe would be d0123456)
- your WebAdvisor password is initially set to your date of birth, in MmmDDYYYY format (e.g., January 1, 1990 would be Jan011990). After your first login, you will be asked to change your password. If you forget it, you may reset your password on the WebAdvisor site.
- your WebAdvisor ID is usually your first name plus one or more letters of your second name (e.g., John Smith could be johns or johnsm)
