E-Resources troubleshooting guide

When I click on an E-Resource, I see a blank screen

Possible issues:

Your corporate firewall is blocking the connection
This is a common problem for Nipissing University AQ students connecting from education board offices, or for any Nipissing University patron connecting from a bank or other financial industry workplace.  This issue does not impact Canadore College patrons.  For more information, see Corporate firewalls block access to E-Resources.

Our Off Campus login server is down
See Service Interruptions on the right hand side of this page for details on planned outages.

You are using a redirect blocker
Products such as Firefox Redirect Blocker will prevent E-Resources from functioning correctly.  It's also possible that a personal firewall or browser setting could cause problems with redirects.

After logging into an E-Resource through the off campus login service, I see a blank screen

Possible issues:

The individual E-Resource is down
Try a resource from another vendor. For example, try a Gale database if you can't connect to an EBSCO database.

When I try to login to E-Resources, I get the message "That username or password was incorrect. Please try again"

Possible issues:

You entered the wrong username, or password, or both

Read the instructions in the Guide to Off Campus login service.

Your username and password have not been added to our system

  • If you have recently registered at Nipissing University, you may not have yet have a WebAdvisor account.  If you can log into WebAdvisor, you should be able to access E-Resources with the same username and password.
  • If you have recently registered at Canadore College, your username and password must be uploaded into our library system, and there can be a delay of as much as a week.  Ask Us! the Information Desk, and we can help.
