UPDATE: The issue has been resolved. Both proxy servers have been configured to run on the standard web port, port 80. If you are still experiencing the difficulties described below, it could mean that you're using an old bookmark, or a link that we've missed. Please let us know and we'll fix it.
A corporate firewall blocks unauthorized access to your computer or network. It can also prevent you from accessing other computers and networks. Many workplaces use firewalls to restrict access to and from their internal network. Medical, government facilities, banks and Boards of Education usually have firewalls. You may have difficulties accessing E-Resources through the Nipissing Off Campus login service from these workplaces.
Your workplace may only allow access to web sites running on port 80, which is the standard port for web servers. The Nipissing University Off Campus login service is configured to run on port 2080. This does not impact the Canadore Off Campus login service, as this runs on port 80.
To check if this is your problem, navigate to the Nipissing University Off Campus login service.
- If you see Login page it means your browser is not blocked by a corporate firewall. See the Off Campus Login troubleshooting guide for more solutions, submit a Help Request, or contact the Information Desk.
- If you can't see the Off Campus Login page, it means your access to port 2080 is blocked, or the Nipissing University Off Campus login service is offline. To determine which,
- Navigate to the Canadore College Off Campus login service on port 80.
- If you can see the login page, go to step 2.
- If you can't see this page, check to see that you're connected to the Internet.
- Navigate to the Canadore College Off Campus login service on port 2080.
- If you can see the login page, then the Nipissing University Off Campus login service is offline.
- If you can't see this page, your access to port 2080 is blocked, probably by a corporate firewall.
- Navigate to the Canadore College Off Campus login service on port 80.
If your access to port 2080 is blocked by a corporate firewall, you will need to seek assistance from your workplace Network Administrator.
