Collection development

Due to technical challenges specific to Canadore College with the Omni migration, beginning December 13, Canadore library users will experience difficulty accessing services linked with library accounts, primarily renewals and library holds.

We are working with Canadore College to resolve the issue. We anticipate access to library resources and services for Canadore library users will be in operation by January, 2020. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding. For further information, contact: Ed Driedger (705-474-3450 x 4545 or

The Library relies on consultation with Faculty for its collection development. If you have any questions about collection development and the ordering of library material please contact your Liaison Librarian .

The Library orders all types of material that are needed by Faculty: books, CDs, DVDs, videos, kits, etc.

Note that for videos and DVDs we must buy Public Performance Rights for them so this can affect the cost.

Send us a list of your requests by email, hard copy or circled items in a catalogue.

If possible, please include the following information:

  • title
  • author/editor
  • original publisher
  • copyright date
  • edition and/or volume
  • ISBN and price (indicating Canadian or U.S. funds).

When the item arrives in the Library you will be notified.

You can submit library requests at any time throughout the year.  Please allow approximately two months for new library materials to become available.
