About the Information Desk

Due to technical challenges specific to Canadore College with the Omni migration, beginning December 13, Canadore library users will experience difficulty accessing services linked with library accounts, primarily renewals and library holds.

We are working with Canadore College to resolve the issue. We anticipate access to library resources and services for Canadore library users will be in operation by January, 2020. The Information Desk is staffed the entire time that the Library is open. The Staff at the Information Desk is there to assist patrons in using the Library. This includes:

  • Finding books
  • Finding articles
  • Using the Catalogue
  • Using the E-Resources
  • Reading call numbers (telling you what a call number is)
  • Evaluating websites
  • Finding DVDs and videos
  • Discovering new information sources 
  • And more….

The Information Desk Staff does not generally interpret information.  We will not compile or check bibliographies or proofread papers. Our focus is on the Library’s resources and our aim is to instruct and explain while assisting patrons to help them become more information literate.
